Penguins vs Red Wings part deux, plus some other stuff

After Darren Helm scored in OT to clinch the Western Conference title for the Detroit Red Wings tonight, the Stanley Cup finals match-up was set...a repeat of last year's finals with Detroit facing Pittsburgh for hockey's holy grail, the Stanley Cup. Last season Detroit won in 6 games, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the result again this year. I also wouldn't be stunned if Pittsburgh pulled the upset and brought the Cup back to the steel city. They're a year older and added a great veteran presence in Bill Guerin at the trade deadline, a presence they lacked going into last year's final. My prediction is that Pittsburgh wins in OT of Game 7. Why? No clue, but I think it's Pittsburgh's time.

The UEFA Champions League Final was this afternoon in Rome, and it was a fantastic match. The two best clubs in the world, FC Barcelona and Manchester United, faced off for the biggest honor in club football. United dominated the first eight or nine minutes, but in the tenth minute, Barcelona's first foray of real pressure on the Manchester defense led to a Samuel Eto'o goal and a change in the complexion of the match. Manchester United and the tens of thousands of fans who traveled from England were stunned and never really got back into the match. Barcelona put the icing on the proverbial cake with a goal from Argentine wonderkid Lionel Messi in the seventieth minute when he expertly headed a Xavi Hernandez cross past United keeper Edwin Van der Sar and into the corner of the net. A well deserved victory for the Blaugrana and the Champions League trophy is headed back to the Catalan capital.

Until next time,
A

Summer's here [finally]

So school is finally completely totally over with. Had a really rough semester. My GPA is going to resemble London after the Blitzkrieg, but I'm ok with that. London was rebuilt, so why can't I do the same with my GPA? I'm an optimist, so I think things will improve.

I'm really dedicating myself to the gym this summer. I've got goals to reach and I will not stop until they are met. my gym [Boston Sports Club - Wellington] got these new rowing machines recently. Did about 2,000 meters this afternoon. I'm gonna aim for 2,200 tomorrow and then keep the distances growing. By the end of August, I want to be able to do 5,000 meters without stopping. It can be done, and I will do it.

Since the Bruins are out of the NHL playoffs now, I want Chicago to win the Stanley Cup. They are an exciting team with limitless potential. Go Hawks.

That's all for now.
